Angler Fish

Even with all of its grumpiness, this fish will put a smile on your face.  Similar to the lionfish, this one is also blown glass blown inside a bronze angler fish body.  It can be an added feature to your interior decor or can be hung outdoors for all of the wildlife to see.  Hand forged bronze chain is a nice accent wherever the Angler fish finds its home.

Ant

A very cool design, simple and fun. The Carpenter Ant with his curious antenna finds his way along an old stone wall or ever making his way into your home.  He's made of forged bronze and blown glass. I love this one!

Band-Winged Dragonfly

The Dragonfly is made of forged bronze and solid glass and is full of color and personality. It's large enough to hold its own in a busy garden setting. I've forged out the wings giving a hammered finish. The eyes on this one are black but I've tried blue and white as alternate combinations. I love the color variations in this work. It's a unique outcome each time. This dragonfly would make a great graduation gift or even a house warming gift. This is a truly unique gift that will be appreciated by all.

Barracuda

This wall mounted hunter ready to take a bite out of life.  He's a combination of stainless steel and bronze.  The glass was rolled in silver leaf moments before it was blown into the fish and now provides a shimmer to the body.  Mounted above a mantel or in a kitchen, this toothy friend is quite a conversation piece.

Bass Fish

SOLD - contact studio for information on a custom piece

This wall mounted sea bass is a trophy for any fisherman.  This sculpture can be a focal point in a study or a key element as part of an outdoor patio serving area.  The fluidity of the glass lends itself to the motion of this fish. First the fish is created and then the glass is blown inside. It's an amazing process with varying outcomes. It takes a team of five workers to pull this big piece together. I've only just begun my exploration with metal and glass...always pushing to do more, reaching for new ideas and making them possible.  I think this piece was one of the hardest things to make so far.

Blue Octopus

SOLD

I've done a few of these...my first commission was for a hanging octopus over a sushi bar in Gloucester, MA.  It was made in stainless steel and glass.  Apparently, it has become a trademark for the restaurant as told by the owner.  Another octopus was for a private commission, again it was hung.  After completing the second one, all in stainless steel, I felt adding bronze to these designs would give if that extra push to a new level.  And the glass needed to be more ocean flavor. I set out to create the most detailed multi-media one of them all.   This octopus sculpture has everything imaginable to carry its theme.  Even a bronze beak hides below his bronze webbing.

Bronze Raven

The Raven often finds himself perched on a railing or on a yard boulder but more recently he's been spotted on the mantel.  This piece is done in many variations ensuring they all have a unique message.  Ask to see the others before you decide.

Catch of the day

The iconic theme is well stated in this piece. The sunlight catches the glass so nicley. Made of forged bronze and solid glass, this piece can live inside or out. It's great when simple is better. This natural form was created by using blacksmith techniques and is forever symbolic of the fishing industry of Gloucester, Ma.

Cauldrons of Fire

Chris Williams Sculpture Studio creates strength and beauty. Hand crafted iron pulled from the blacksmith forge, these cauldrons of fire reach back to medieval times. Bold features joined with hammered steel hardware; our fire pits will inspire conversation. You’ll feel a part of history has been worked into these timeless centerpieces.  These cauldrons are made to last and will develop a deep brown rust patina with natural weathering. A hand made chainmail net supports the logs by night and adds interest by day. A hole in the pit’s center provides perfect drainage and makes conversion to gas simple.

Spark Screen - $725.00

*Please contact the studio for different sizes available.

Fish School

These wall mounted fish magnify the sunlight and shimmer as they swim.  The Fish School piece includes five swiming fish.  A hand made glass body defines their identity.  These are one of my top picks.  When people see all my work, they always comment on these...

Floating Fountain

Here's something unique.  Someone approached me asking if I'd ever made a fountain. That's something new for me. I was thinking about ways to make it different. Always trying to find the new.  I remembered the water falls that seemed to pour off the floating mountains of Pandora (from the movie Avatar). I love the environment in that movie.  So when creating a water feature, I decided that those floating mountains would be my inspiration.

Using a granite base, I used the organic tree type structure to mold to the stone. And from there, created the mountain land mass. Holding it up by hammered rods. This gave it the floating feel I was looking for. Once the basin was made, I did the interior island for the water to pour over. When the center was complete, I added trees. And then added the tree below the water line. That lower tree made the piece seem to float. It really does feel like one of those floating mountains from Avatar.  Cool! Weird, but cool!

Floridian Dragonfly

This Dragonfly is made of bronze and solid glass and is full of color and personality. It's available in blue or purple glass and is large enough to hold its own in a busy garden setting. The dragonfly has many symbols but one of them is to live "in" the moment.  It flies only for a fraction of its life and usually not more than a few months.  In these few months this dragonfly lives his life to the fullest, leaving nothing to be desired.  Let this dragonfly teach us the virtue of living in the moment.

Giraffe

SOLD

The bronze plates are cut and formed by hand and assembled one piece at a time.  I'm really pleased with this piece.  Even the color of the bronze as it reacts to the heat of the welding is a beautiful effect.  Sometimes when you set out to reach the goal, you arrive exactly where you want.  With this piece, I wouldn't change a thing.

Giraffe

Our baby Giraffe was just born on May 26th this year at 600 lbs.!

This young lady has a people personality.  She tilts her head slightly to the left and stands at 10’ tall.  Her spotted pattern is created from steel plates that are cut and formed by hand.  Her spots were created one piece at a time ensuring her own individual spot print.  Let her greet you with her long eyelashes each day and set a peaceful tone to your property.

Our studio creates many large commissioned pieces through the year but we always try to find the time to create one or two just for fun.  We are pleased to offer this tall beauty and we expect she'll find her place in the world soon.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to the studio.  We enjoy talking with art lovers.

Good Luck Cricket

It's said that a Cricket in the hearth brings good luck.  I think this Cricket will bring good luck wherever he lands. The body is all forged from bronze and the glass components really catch the light. This is a unique house warming gift for any new homeowner.

Iguana

This Iguana is made of solid bronze bars with some detailed bronze plating.  These pieces can be sealed to keep them in the raw bronze color or a patina can be applied for a rich blue/green verdigris.  This sculpture is a great compliment to a patio or deck and can be custom made for wall mounting or to any position requested.

Itsy Bitsy Spider

This itsy, bitsy Spider or "Daddy Long Legs" as my son calls him is a delicate balance between the brilliant color of his body and his careful tip toeing stance.  This little wanderer seems to mind his own business while he walks along. The colors in his body are swirling around as if to ward off anyone sneaking up on him.  Simple and fun.  Made of bronze and solid glass.

Large Ant

Here's a hefty fellah.  Weighing about 15 lbs., this Ant with its curious antenna finds his way along an old stone wall or ever making his way into your home to join you for morning coffee.  The glass on this piece is awesome. With the color cased in clear, he's got a lot to offer on a sunny day.  His legs are forged bronze and with time will become a beautiful blue/green patina.  Bronze is known around the world for its enduring properties.  Unlike many garden sculptures you can find these days, my work is focused on the beauty of today but the assurance of tomorrow.  These materials will last for generations.

Large Dragonfly

Slightly different from our smaller dragonfly, this delightful creature has solid, hammered bronze wings which often become a resting ground for friendly dragonfly friends.  The blueish color is accented nicely by the sun or indoor lighting.

Large Grasshopper

This Grasshopper has blown glass mimicking their true colors and combines rich forged bronze features.  This classy addition brings elegance and style.

Large Honey Bee

While striving for boldness and color, the Honey bee was born. It's said that a single bee or Honey bee entering a house brings good luck.  Whether she lives inside or out, good luck will find her. The brilliant colors of the glass and alert posture captures the true nature of the honey bee. The extreme heat generated by the welding brings colors into the bronze and adds a rainbow affect to her wings.  She's been treated with a finish that will last up to ten years in the harsh winters of New England or the sunshine of Arizona.  With hand forged wings and gorgeous glass, this bee will brighten your day.  The balance of bulk with the anticipation of flight are both captured with this piece.  With thick, chunky legs and light playful wings it's just a great balance.  This would make a truly great gift for a beekeeper!

Lionfish

This bronze Lionfish is a sure conversation starter.  The blown glass inside a bronze body really gives it a unique look.  It will give your home a wonderful ambiance or can be hung outdoors for all to enjoy.

Magic Dragon

One of our favorites!!  We are pleased to offer  "The Magic dragon."

Created in bronze this majestic beast is a unique custom piece for any estate.  Beginning from a large piece of Cape Ann granite, this one-of-a-kind formed and fabricated bronze dragon sculpture perched high on a branch stands proud at 7' tall. He holds tight to his branch with his long talons. This dragon with his tail curling about the tree looks over with a curiosity in his eye. The slight tilt of his head brings life to the serpentine giant.

We hope to release this magical creature on its journey home. Please let us know if you need any additional information. We are always eager to talk with other dragon lovers.

Marini Octopus

This amazing Octopus, with its flowing tentacles appears light and free flowing.  It's an impressive combination of chunks of stainless steel and blown glass working together. My glass team works together with me to create a hot glass balloon. It's then carefully blown into the head of this piece melding the two mediums in an organic flowing way.
This Octopus has Marini Glass making this piece truly beautiful.

This is a wonderful sculpture to accent a garden or it would also make a stunning interior piece.  Perhaps mixed in with some house plants or hanging above a dining table or in a foyer.  Overall size is 5'x5'x5'.

Monarch Butterfly

This bronze Monarch butterfly has a yellow and black body with black and white eyes encased in deep clear glass, it's a colorful treat to find among the flowers.   It also appears delicate but with such brilliant colors she won't be missed.

Orange Octopus

This amazing Octopus, with its flowing tentacles appears light and free flowing.  It's an impressive combination of chunks of stainless steel and blown glass working together. My glass team works together with me to create a hot glass balloon. It's then carefully blown into the head of this piece melding the two mediums in an organic flowing way. This technique took me about two years to perfect but it was well worth it. I couldn't be more pleased with the result.

Here, it's shown in a landscape and is ready to withstand the harsh cold winters of Cape Ann. I create my works with the elements in mind. Often people ask about winters and if the glass is safe outside year round. I tell them, it's nice to see the colors of the glass peaking through the snow.   Overall size is 5'x5'x5'.
This would also make a stunning interior piece. Perhaps mixed in with some house plants or hanging in a greenhouse. Where ever he lives, he's sure to invoke good conversation.

Orange Octopus

This piece can be used in a landscape or as an interior chandelier sculpture.  The glass head is shown with a light inside and hanging from a custom made bronze chain.  This sculpture has great flowing tentacles and lots of fluid action.  Size is 5'x5'x5'.

Praying Mantis

The Praying Mantis is a favorite.  He's got personality and presence.  While working with different glass studios and brainstorming on new ideas, the Praying Mantis garden sculpture was born. Many of the garden pieces have great personalities but this guy seems to rule the bunch.  Standing tall and with his arms reaching out, he's "ready to go" no matter what the task.

Private school

Three fish, the symbol of prosperity.  These wall mounted fish magnify the sunlight and shimmer as they swim.  A hand made glass body defines their identity.  These are one of my top picks.  When people see all my work, they always comment on these...

Schooling Trout

This three schooling trout piece has the fluidity of fish in motion.  Fish are made of curved solid glass swimming in bronze sea grass nestled on a natural granite stone.  This piece can grace a focal point inside the home or can be a key element as part of an outdoor patio area.

Screech Owl

Made using blacksmith techniques, each piece is first heated to a glowing red and then formed on the anvil using hammers and other hand tools.   He's perched on a few small logs also made of steel giving him a place to think.  Created in an abstract way it captured the spirit of this owl's intensity.

Sentinel Crane

In striking position, this sentinel crane quietly waits. Elegance, grace, simplicity are some of the comments I receive when people see these cranes for the first time.  These cranes are forged from solid steel and built to last.  Unique hammering techniques on the feathers and tail create the details that make these come alive.

Sentinel Dragon

SOLD

Mounted on a large, quarried granite stone, our Sentinel Dragon stands at an impressive 6'10" and greets all that come to visit with an evil eye.  The one-of-a-kind bronze dragon is a favorite with Its hand forged wing span of 4'.

Small Honey Bee

With hand forged wings and gorgeous glass, this little Honey bee will brighten your day.  The balance of bulk with the anticipation of flight are both captured with this piece.  Let him accent your garden or bring the outdoor nature into your home.

Stainless Greyhound

SOLD

Some of my work shows strength and force while others are soft and playful. Capturing the energy was my goal for this piece.  I often study the way animals move to better understand the essence of what they are. Greyhounds are full to the brim with playful energy and that to me is the true spirit of a greyhound.  As I forged this piece, carefully curving and forming the slabs of stainless steel, the design unfolded in front of me.  My preliminary sketches and thoughts yield to the force of the bending metal fighting back at me. Forming metal is a bit of a battle but when done with care, you can find the softer side of steel.

This piece is currently available. It will not change color overtime and can live in just about any environment. As long as it's loved.

Steel Raven

I love this piece!  A bird watcher's dream come true. This big steel raven stands with his head turned slightly deciding just how to snatch up that worm. He's full of personality and actually moves slightly in a gentle breeze. I love to see small creatures in such a grand way. It feels like you understand them better when you see them eye to eye.

Tabletop Octopus

Our solid glass tabletop Octopus will add color and interest to any location.  These pieces are adorning gardens as well as focal points in the home.  All individually created in hammered, formed and twisted bronze with colorful solid glass.  A truly unique piece to be enjoyed indoor or out.

Tree Frog

SOLD

With brilliant glass eyes and careful balance on this fallen tree also made of bronze, the Red Eyed Tree Frog is a beautiful statement. At 6' tall he won't be missed. Another feature this piece has is a water line running through the tree and out through his mouth. This sculpture would be a great pond addition.

A Ram Mascot - 2016

The beginnings of the Ram for Framingham State University. The hooves were made individually and leg framing was extended upward. The four legs with feet attached were then set up on the boulder.  Proper distance between the hooves and general body angle was achieved with careful planning.  This boulder we found is perfect for this piece. It feels like this stone could be resting on the edge of a mountaintop. When the piece is finished, you’ll see what I mean.  I want this piece to be strong, driven, and most of all determined to achieve.  So pleased to have this opportunity to create a mascot sculpture that will inspire the next generation of Framingham graduates. It’s an honor and a pleasure.

Bull Steer

Bull Steer commissioned by the city of Manchester, NH. Years ago they had a meat processing plant in Manchester that employed 1/2 of the population of that city. The owner wanted to give something back and of course, you know what he was thinking! So this Bull was commissioned in 2006 and is made of bronze. It's a 13' bull and is now located along the Merrimac river.

Climbing Tree Frog

Tree Frog sculpture, designed for New England Bio-Labs in Ipswich, Ma. The idea behind this was to make a creative place for employees to have lunch. The tree frog sculpture measures 8' long with his fingers holding onto the top edge of the copper wall. Very cool piece with glass eyes and made of bronze metal. Simple, fun piece that seems to reflect the positivity that flows from New England Bio-Labs. Great people and very supportive of the arts.

Dog Memorial - 2013

Dog Memorial

This dog was commissioned by a family out in VA.  Recently, "Scout", passed away and this piece was made in his memory.   Scout spent many evenings curled up in front of their fireplace and that is just the way they will remember him.  Made of bronze, this is actual size and will now take his place beside the hearth.

This Dragon lives in a small courtyard on Cape Ann, MA.  Commissioned by a true dragon lover, this piece greets her guests as they come to visit.

Fighting Scot - 2016

The Fighting Scot is the mascot for Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts.

The Scot is made entirely out of bronze.  Like many pieces we create, each piece was handcut, forged and welded one by one.  The final piece will be sitting on a granite base in front of the athletic's department at Gordon.  This was a first 'lion' made at the studio and I believe that we are all happy with the results.

Gator Globe for UF - 2015

The Gator is the mascot for the University of Florida.  We installed and delivered this great piece, titled "Ubiquity" to Gainesville this past summer.

The concept conveys the Florida Gator and its presence in the world.  The globe and gator are made entirely out of bronze.  Each piece was handcut, forged and welded one by one.  It sits on the custom concrete base on the campus' new addition.  This was a unique and great project to work on and I believe we are all happy with the results.  Click on link below to see how the gator came to be from an article written by the University of Florida.

Giraffe

The bronze plates are cut and formed by hand and assembled one piece at a time.  I'm really pleased with this piece.  Even the color of the bronze as it reacts to the heat of the welding is a beautiful effect.  Sometimes when you set out to reach the goal, you arrive exactly where you want.  With this piece, I wouldn't change a thing.

Greyhound

Capturing the energy was my goal for this piece.  I often study the way animals move to better understand the essence of what they are. Greyhound - 2014

Greyhound in stainless steel commissioned by a Tennessean man and donated to the Tunica Humane Society in Miss.  The Greyhound is hammered and formed into shape. Play pose and full of beans this greyhound captures life. Done in an abstract way, the muscles are still tight and he appears to be ready to jump. This is the third greyhound that will be completed.  I think they all have a way about them. Great dogs!

High Spirits - 2017

This piece was born from the positive energy that flowed through Robin Silverman. A creative community person who lived in Ipswich, Massachusetts and inspired many.  After her passing, her husband was compelled to give something to the community. It was something he just wanted to do. Hopefully to inspire future generations to feel good and continue to share their gifts with each other. Robin was a giver. Rick is just “paying it forward’.  We thought that “High Spirits" would be a fitting title for something holding court from the top of that hill. Something that feels up-lifting and connected somehow.

The 14' tree is made in shards of bronze metal to create the bark texture.  The birds in contrast, are in abstract form. This piece stands 14' high and about 12' wide. I'm sure as the bronze ages and becomes that blue/green patina color, this piece will feel as if it had been there all along. Nice to have work in Ipswich, near our studio. Having sent pieces all over, this is one I can visit. Maybe I'll see you there!

Italian Greyhound - 2013

Italian Greyhound

This bronze piece was commissioned by a customer with two little greyhounds.  She wanted one of the little guys created into a life-size Italian greyhound sculpture so that she would have it for all the years to come.  This sculpture took over a month to create and I think, captures the spirit of all that energy these dogs have.

Latitude 43 Restaurant

Latitude 43 Restaurant in Gloucester, Ma. The Octopus was commissioned to go above a sushi pit in an oceanfront restaurant. The piece is made of stainless steel and blown glass. This was my first blown glass and metal combination. The architecht suggested I work with the guys at MIT in Boston to create a free flowing piece with glass and metal. It was a stretch to learn the process of combining the two mediums but it has led to many projects with glass and it's been awesome. I did many cool pieces for the interior of Lat 43; fireplace screen, bonsai tree railing and ticket holders. The fireplace screen was to look like one of Gloucester's fishing nets.

Johnathan Poore of Poore & Company in Gloucester had the idea and together we came up with a wonderful piece. The sushi pit is located in the middle of the restaurant and the guests walk around this piece to be seated. It has become a signature at Lat 43 in Gloucester.

Moose - 2012

Life size Moose commissioned in 2010 by Simon Property Group for the new Premium Outlets in Merrimack, NH. This Moose was modeled after an Alaskan bull moose and stands 12' high at the top of the antlers. He now greets the shoppers as they come and go through the seasons.

Neuron - 2015

Cambridge, Massachusetts is filled with big thinkers.  The nerve center of Cambridge, Kendall Square, is the hub of bio tech research.  Kendall Square is changing, advancing our understanding of the human body. When it came time to consider a sculpture for Kendall, I wanted it to reflect the big ideas that come from this region of the country.  This 25' Neuron with its 12' dendrites will be a center piece, reaching outward in every direction. Symbolizing the connection that Kendall has with its partners in research. This piece is made up entirely out of twisted and formed bronze with a 1/2" thick slumped glass at its core nucleus.   Stay tuned for more as the project nears its completion.

Bronze Poodles

Pool Railing

Pool Railing in bronze was to compliment the natural shape of this ocean front swimming oasis.  This organic, custom pool called for an equally natural looking railing.  There was an existing railing already in its place, so I was able to use the two mounting holes as a beginning point for my railing (most pools have a standard mounting system for the universal stainless steel pipe railing). So if you want something different and can keep an open mind, maybe I can come up with something for you too.

Railings - 2013

Hand forged and hammered handrails commissioned by a Massachusetts couple for their front foyer.  Railings were a complete custom project using lots of blacksmithing techniques.  Each section was cut, forged, and hammered into the desired shape and size.  Material chosen was steel with a touch of bronze accents.  This was a challenging but rewarding project and we're all happy with the outcome.  Take a look at the process...

Seascape at Logan Int'l. Airport

Seascape created for Logan International Airport in Boston. This installation was done in 2010 at American Airlines, terminal B. It has been a show stopper. They tell me the passengers stop dead in their tracks. Really cool piece with plenty of details to discover. The big bass fish was a collaboration between Peter Houk at MIT glass lab and myself. I made the big bass, and then Peter and his team blew the glass inside. It takes a village...

Sentinel Dragon

Wharf Rat

Wharf Rat sculpture for a waterfront home in Rockport, Ma. The story for this one is they have a bunch of friends who tie up their boats along the wharf right in front of their home. They all hang out on the boats and have cocktails. Sounds good right? So they call themselves the Wharf Rats!

When it was time to remodel the home, they wanted a weathervane on top with a big rat theme. Well, after disscussing the proper size of a rat clinging to a weathervane, and going back and forth with them about "Make the rat bigger!" "What about the weathervane?" "Make the rat bigger!!" I finally said, why don't we just skip the weathervane and just go for the rat? Three cheers could be heard from Rockport that day. So here it is. The biggest bronze wharf rat that I think ever lived on the waterfront. Perched on top of the cupola, this wharf rat keeps watch over the water ways on Cape Ann.
