BRONZE PLANTERS

This project began with the volunteers of Generous Gardeners. A group who grace our community, year after year with their drive and passion to keep Gloucester in bloom!

Late in 2022, they came to me with the idea of “Something for the boulevard for Gloucester’s 400th year”. It needed to be something to celebrate how the sea has become so integrated with the community over so many generations. The location for this new art would be around the Fishermen’s statue on Stacy Boulevard in Gloucester, Massachusetts.

To continue the support for the current statue known as the “Man at the Wheel”, we designed what could be considered an accessory to the existing theme. These “Fish Baskets” hold the treasures of the sea, capturing a moment of “A day in the life of the Gloucester fisherman.”

A project that took almost a year to complete and each one is filled with different treasures. Inviting visitors to the boulevard to spend time in the space and reflect. In this way, we can all feel a connection to what happens offshore.

It's been fun working with Generous Gardeners and an honor to be adding to the City of Gloucester in this historic way.
